Slack Integration
Integrate AUTOMATE+ with Slack
1. Log into Slack in your browser.
2. Navigate to https://api.slack.com/apps
3. Click on Create New App.
a. select the From Scratch option.
b. Choose a name for your app, we suggest 6pillars.
c. Select the preferred Workspace.
d. Click Create App.
4. This brings you to the Basic Information page.
a. Scroll down and select Bots from the “Add Features and Functionality section.
5. Now on the App Home page, click on “Review Scopes to Add” button.
6. Once on the OAuth & Permissions page.
a. In the Scopes section, add the following scopes:
i. chat:write
ii. channel:read
7. Scroll back up and click on Install to Workspace.
a. on the secondary confirmation page, please review and confirm the details of your new app and click Allow.
8. Once confirmed, you will be returned to the OAuth & Permissions page.
a. copy the Bot User OAuth token with the button provided.
9. Navigate to app.6pillars.ai/integrations
a. paste the Bot User OAuth Token into the Slack Bot Token field.
10. Go to your local Slack application
a. Select your preferred Slack channel for notifications, or create a new channel.
b. Once you have your channel selected, click on the channel name in the left hand channel browser.
c. Now click on the channel name dropdown at the top of the chat window.
d. scroll to the bottom and copy the Channel ID:
e. Return to app.6pillars.ai/integrations and paste the channel ID into the “Channel ID” field. (this is to be re-named via separate task)
i. click Save.
f. Return to your local Slack application.
g. Select the channel where you want to present 6pillars event notifications
h. Click on the channel name dropdown, then select the Integrations tab.
i. Click on Add apps.
j. Search for the App name you created at step 3b and click Add App.
k. This completes your integration and 6pillars event notifications will be presented in your chosen Slack channel.
